Question ID: 206828
We would like to know the financial stability of Empire Food LLC group
of companies located at 1755 Purina Way, Sparks NV 89431-6524 . We are
sourcing for a principal to represent and would want to choose one
which is financially stable before deciding to do so.
We are presently the agent of the another company which is engaged in
the dehydration of onion and garlic products. However, we are not
satisfied with the prices and services which we are receiving and is
contemplating on looking for another principal to represent. We have
heard from the market that Empire Food LLC are not financially stable
and this grouip is presently encountering some financial difficulties.
We do not know if this is true or not ? May it be that the information
which we have heard is incorrect?
I have tried to open an account at D&B Small business solutions to get
my answer above, but when I log in, they require information to my
company's address and the zip code and state. All these space to type
in the information default to those belonging to the United States.
Our company is located in the Philippines. How do we subcribe to D&B
small business solutions ?

Hello pnri-ga,

Don't worry about registering for Dun and Bradstreets. I just
succesfully registered using a fictional alias and false address. The
problem is registration does not mean you will get the information you
want. The D&B reports come with a price. I was quoted $121. for the
Empire Food LLC report. The reports can be accessed online and are
updated regularly. You will need a credit card to obtain the report.

Why not first contact Empire Foods directly?

Please feel free to submit a clarification request if you need
additional information. Your question was a bit ambiguous and I want
to be sure you have the answer you paid for.

Dear rapidreference-ga,

What I need right now is a general information regarding the financial
stability ( like whether they have filed any bankrupcy proceedings or
not with any court or government offices? Or whether they are losing
money or not?) from other sources other than Dun and bradstreets
report, which is very detailed and expensive. In the future, if
needed, that's the time we might consider whether we need such report
or not?
I mentioned about how to open a D&B account as a clarification to the
steps I have made, which is related to the main question.
My main question which I need an answer is to get some information
about the financial status and stability of this company, mainly, as
known by the industry, not very specific financial figures, although a
copy of the financial statement filed in some government offices ( if
any)for public to see, would be very helpful . In our contry, all
Corporations, whether publicly held or not, are required by law to
file a general information sheets and to submit the corporate
financial statements to a government office on a yearly basis-which we
called " Securities Exchange Commission ", which is our government
office which oversees corporations and see to it that they do not
violate laws and victimized the general public. Every company or
individual can go to this office and request for information about the
" General information sheets " and "financial statements" of any
corporation here in our country.
I wonder if there is such a similar set up or office in the United
States? Or State of nevada ? Information from such office, which can
be access by the public is what we need.
We are in contact with Empire Foods , but would be inappropriate to
ask questions regarding their financial stability at this time. But we
would not move forward ( meaning, leave our present principal to
develop deepper business relationship with Empire)if what we have
heard on our end is correct
.
Hope you understand my question.

regards,

pnri-ga

Unfortunately it is very difficult to find information regarding
private companies in the U.S.(see below). They are not required to
disclose their financial condition as public companies are. The only
option is to search for newspaper articles or websites that will
provide specific details on a company. In the case of Empire Foods LLC
I have found nothing. I have access to legal databases and newspaper
databases and I have searched them and found nothing.

I have also included a link to the United States Bankruptcy Court -
District of Nevada website. It is possible to register, pay a small
fee, and have access to bankruptcy filings.

I wish I could give you somthing more definitive. It is my belief that
a bankruptcy filing by Empire Foods would make news. There would be
some details. Since I have found nothing, I doubt they have filed
bankruptcy.

Center for Business Research - Long Island Univ.
Differences between private and public companies
<http://www.liu.edu/cwis/cwp/library/cbr/publicvprivate.htm>

"Private Companies do not file with the SEC and have no obligation to
make their financial information public. Therefore, sometimes there
is almost no information available for a private company beyond its
own web page or a brief directory listing. Such a listing may provide
only contact information, number of employees, and lines of business.
If a private company has been in the news, there is also the
possibility of finding newspaper and magazine articles."
