Dear tipp123,

Good day and thanks for your question. There are a number of software
available which split movie files of all types (including DiVX AVI
files). I use DiVX Spliter. Located at http://www.divxsplitter.com .
It is not free and there is no free trial. But it is very good

If you're looking for freeware, then a good one is VirtualDub
http://www.virtualdub.org

Other programs (shareware/demo) you can use are

BoilSoft Video Splitter
http://www.boilsoft.com/videosplitter/

AVI Splitter (does not support filezise > 2MB)
http://www.brizsoft.com/avisplit/index.html

Easy Video Splitter
http://doeasier.org/splitter/index.html

Fx movie Splitter
http://www.jhepple.com/fxmoviesplitter.htm

As far as converting the DiVX AVI format to a VCD format, check out
the following :

http://www.vcdhelp.com/tmpgenc.htm - A guide on converting DivX -> MPG
or ASF -MPG with TMPGEnc, a freeware utility. This guide includes
screen captures!

http://www.vcdhelp.com/panasonic.htm - A guide on converting DivX ->
MPG with Panasonic MPEG Encoder 2.5+. Panasonic's MPEG Encoder is not
freeware. This guide also has screen captures!

http://www.vcdhelp.com/faq.htm#divxsvcd - A few words on the settings
to use when converting DivX with TMPGenc. Read it if you plan to make
SVCDs. This is an addon to the main SVCD Guide above.

http://www.geocities.com/bug2kbug/svcdguide.htm  - A great guide by
y2kbug for making the best possible DVD backups using SVCD. It is not
a guide about converting DivX to SVCD. But it will give you a LOT of
information you will need if you decide to convert/burn your files.

I hope this answers your question. If you have any clarifications,
please don't hesitate to ask.

Thank you for using this service and have a nice day

Warm Regards,
Aditya
