Hello amyst777,

Thank you for your question.

As noted at this page from BBC NEWS, the annual Consumer Electronics
Show is a great resource for the "cutting edge" and I think a
wonderful place to start:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/2641213.stm

Cutting edge gadgets honoured

"A keyboard without any keys, a solar charger for the Gameboy and a
digital electric guitar are among the most innovative gadgets on
display at the world's largest consumer technology trade show.

They have all been recognised at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las
Vegas as trend-settings products.

Every year a panel of journalists, designers and engineers look at
hundreds of cutting edge products..."

You will enjoy this story.

CES, of course, has its own site:
http://www.cesweb.org/default.asp

And sites such as BestStuff.com often pick up on the best of show and
report their findings:
http://www.beststuff.com/articles/4518/

"NBC Weekend Today: Consumer Electronics Show

Manufacturers from around the world are in Las Vegas this weekend
showing their latest high-tech gadgets at this year's Consumer
Electronics Show. Our tech editor Corey Greenberg is there and shows
us some of the hottest new products of 2003.

The trend for this year seems to be smaller, faster and better
products in every way. Computer processing is getting faster while
digital media storage is getting smaller, and they're both getting
cheaper -- the result is a new generation of gadgets that are smaller
than ever before while still significantly outperforming last year's
models..."

ExtremeTech provides similar coverage:
http://www.extremetech.com/category2/1,3971,808441,00.asp

Keeping an eye open for reviews of the CES annual shows will always
produce articles on interesting new technology.

There are several sites that like to keep up to date on technology
products. One such is The Gadget Guru:
http://www.gadgetguru.com/ProductNews.htm

However, I prefer the selection and reviews at Mr. Gadget:

Are you fond of pocket computing? While there are numerous sites that
address this market niche, my absolute favorite is Dale Coffing's
PocketPC Passion:
http://www.pocketpcpassion.com/default.htm

Dale also links to another page on the new and innovative called "The
Gadgeteer":
http://www.the-gadgeteer.com/

Today's pages feature items such as a 128MB USB ballpoint pen, fashion
eyewear with a 320x240 16bit color display and the latest in satellite
radio.

If you're like me, you'll look forward to the latest catalog from the
Sharper Image arriving in your mailbox. Why wait? Visit them online:

I may just have to have this gadget from their current page:

Roomba Floor Vac Robot

you're asleep or out of the house.

Hmmmm.

And you knew I'd have to get around to listing a spy shop or two:

The Spy Site
http://www.spysite.com/

Spy Tech Agency

and The Spy Exchange:

are just a few of dozens of similar sites.

Remember last year's flash fad of mini RC cars? I know the spam folder
of my email client was filled with irresistible offers. But how about
mini RC HELICOPTERS?

http://www.trendtimes.com/rchelicopters.html

"Like helicopters? Everyone does! That's why Trend Times had to span
the globe for the most amazing rc helicopters and put them here just
for you. Why pay hundreds, even thousands of dollars for traditional
model rc helicopters?? Two helicopter models are available in order to
serve both the beginner helicopter pilot and the experienced rc
helicopter pilot as well. Act now and we will include the remote
control and charger with each helicopter you buy!!! HELICOPTERS COME
ASSEMBLED AND READY TO FLY!!! Our rc helicopters go as high as 100
feet in the air. Special May pricing on both models..."

Moving toward more scientific themes, I came across wizkids.co.uk:
http://www.future.wizkids.co.uk/

"Breakthroughs in Science. Links to cutting edge science related web
sites.

Cutting edge science. Research and breakthroughs using State of the
Art and discovery's of new sciences, The Sun, water, Earth, star,
Mars, physics, cosmology, the Universe, power sources, control units,

etc. Earth science, engineering and bandwidth solutions. Robotics,
gadgets, chemical and telecommunications. Social, psychology and
politics. A look at the future?.."

Click on their "Crystal Ball" for numerous pages of links.

And MIT has a site dedicated to reviewing technology:
http://www.technologyreview.com/

Although the site is fee based, there is plenty of free information to
be had. Great stuff at this site.

You did specifically mention weapons. How about weather control as a
weapon?
http://www.cuttingedge.org/articles/weather.cfm

"...We will discuss this fascinating subject from two major avenues.
First, we shall discuss the proofs from a journalistic point of view
that scientists can control the weather and can use its various means
as weapons. This line of reasoning is important because the great
majority of Americans have passed through a Public School System that
has deliberately not taught logic, mathematics, and science.

Secondly, we shall examine the scientific evidence that scientists do
control the weather using Tesla Technology, which he developed from
1886-1928 ["The Fantastic Inventions of Nikola Tesla", by Nikola Tesla
and David H. Childress, 1993.] As you read about our capabilities to
control the weather, remember that the brilliant mystic scientist,
Nikola Tesla, made the key discoveries almost 100 years ago! We do not
know how far advanced Tesla was with his work on controlling the
weather and its storms, but we feel fairly confident that the terrible
storms and drought in the late 1920's may have been brought on by a
deliberate use of Tesla technology...."

Hmmmm, once again. Interesting reading none-the-less.

Blackjack's Weapons has a few totally unaffordable weapons that seem
out of the future:

National Geographic has an interesting article on "cutting edge"
camouflage developed from studying nature:
http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2003/03/0311_030312_secretweapons1.html

"Militaries Study Animals for Cutting-Edge Camouflage

to nature to develop powerful new military technologies—the subject of
a new National Geographic EXPLORER documentary Secret Weapons,

And if you have interest in the weapons of cooking for the Iron Chef,
this cached page will fascinate you with descriptions of his $3,000

Of course, no discussion of modern weaponry would be complete without
a description of what we have been using in the Mid East:

AboveTop Secret talks about Laser Weapons and the star Wars program:
http://www.abovetopsecret.com/pages/starwars.html

"If a nuclear attack were launched on America, it could involve
hundreds of missiles carrying thousands of warheads, each traveling at
up to 4 miles a second towards targets they would reach within 30
minutes of launch. To protect themselves, the US have therefore
developed their Strategic Defense Initiative (SDI) or 'Star Wars'
program.
A major part of this program is to develop lasers that will shoot down
enemy missiles within five minutes of launch. If it was left any later
than this, then defense becomes much more difficult because the
missile releases up to ten separate warheads and many decoys, greatly
increasing the number of targets that have to be hit.

Lasers destroy their targets by directing onto them an intense beam of
energy which travels at the speed of light - 186,000 miles a second.
The simplest method of destruction is to focus a beam of infrared
radiation on a missile so that it burns a hole in the rocket casing,
causing fuel to escape so stopping the missile from reaching orbit.
Another possibility is directing the beam to disrupt the rocket's
electronic guidance system..."

And this site has numerous links for the latest in weapons all over
the world:

Got an interest in Free Energy?
http://www.geocities.com/jcfdillon/index3.html

"The Lutec 1000 is the first free energy machine to be developed to
commercial stage anywhere in the world. "The Lutec 1000 generator will
produce up to 1000 watts of DC electricity twenty four hours a day,
every day, which will be stored in a battery bank and then inverted to
AC power and connected directly into the home or business. "The Lutec
1000 draws the power it requires to run itself from the same battery
bank. The average house in Cairns, Queensland, uses only fourteen of
the twenty four kilowatt hours able to be stored in twenty four hours
by this method. "The batteries will last ten years. The generator is
expected to come with a conditional ten year warranty. "The magnets
that are responsible for the generation have an effective life of one
thousand three hundred years." --Quoted from Lutec 1000 website
located at http://www.lutec.com.au (found via Electrifying Times
website)..."

The Archives at Salon often have interesting technology reviews as
shown on this 1999 page for example:

You can buy an inexpensive subscription to Salon to keep current with
their findings.

Finally, I decided to find a few pages on just "cool stuff". How Stuff
