Question ID: 208076
What is the step by step procedure for adding a photo or file of
information to a plain text email. my comp has twp hard drives
totalling 2gb, 65 of memory and runs windows 98. This seems such a
simple thing but i`m too embarrassed to ask my comp whiz kids mates
who " know it all" Hope $2.00 is enough.

Which mail program do you use? (Examples would be Outlook, Outlook
Express, Eudora, Netscape Mail, or such.)

Hello pugwashjw,

Thank you for your question.

Since Pink has mentioned you use Outlook Express, I experimented to
see if attachments with plain text created any difficulty. I also use
Win 98 and Outlook Express (VER 6.0), but normally use html formatted
email and have never had a problem with any type of attachment. For
this test, I chose no stationary under the Message / New Message menu,
and then chose plain text under the Format menu in the message window.

After creating the test message, I clicked the "paper clip" icon,
searched the directories for something appropriate and attached an
image. It worked flawlessly.

If this does not work for you, please explain exactly what did not
appear to work for you and I will attempt to help further. My only
suspicion is that you *might* be using an older version of Outlook
Express, but even then I would expect this to work. If that is the
problem, I can point you to where you can update your version of
Outlook Express. Check the Help / About menu item for the version.

Do let me know if this is not a sufficient explanation to get this
working for you.

Regards,

Thanks! The answer I found to be a bit complicated. Still cannot find
the paperclip icon on my top bar. What I needed was a step by step
procedure. the answer to me was too flowing. But anyway, finally did
manage to scan a photo, put it into a tif file and then attach it to
an email to a new contact in Oregon. It seemed to work and I`m waiting
for response. I`m still a bit of a dummy but thanks anyway.
