I have several MIDI files that I would like to play and record into
MP3 files (or WAV). I don't have any external device like a keyboard,
but the MIDI files play fine with WinAmp. Thanks.

Hi,

I remember wanting to do the same thing a few months ago. Ultimately I
discovered that there hardware I using wasn't sufficient to do
everything I wanted it to do. Hopefully you won't have that problem.

I recently researched a similar question
(http://answers.google.com/answers/main?cmd=threadview&id=40029). Here
are the software packages I was able to find (I've removed the one
site that no longer exists).

Band-in-a-Box

MidiSyn
http://planeta.clix.pt/acesteves/MidiSyn/MSynMain.htm

Audio Compositor

WAVmaker
http://www.polyhedric.com/software/wavmaker/

Midi2Wav
http://www.midi2wav.com/

I found the above conversion programs (and others) on the following
page:

BuildOrBuy Group Network
http://www.buildorbuy.org/wavtomidi.html

I hope one of these software applications does the job you want.

Best wishes,

Here's another method to try that might work using the software you
already have (if you have a full duplex soundcard). But note the

I haven't tried it, but this software looks as if it might be useful
for your purpose:

If you have a sound blaster or compatible sound card, you should have
a recording option that allows you to select "what you hear mode" as
the source for recording audio into an audio recording program (such
as sound recorder). If you select this mode in using the volume
control program that comes with windows, you should be able to record
your midis into wav format with the sound recorder as you play them in
winamp.

Hi humantrope

I invested in Midi2Wav a long time ago when I was downloading ragtime
music files. It's a nice little piece of software.
