I believe the model you are referring to is the SL20, and not the ls20
(since as from what I could find they only make an SL20).

In any case, I found from dvdrhelp.com a region hack for this
particular DVD player (
http://www.dvdrhelp.com/dvdhacks.php?select=Sanyo+SL20 ). The hack is
designed for the uk version, and it seems that some people with region
4 versions of the player have had video sync problems when playing
NTSC video (region 1). The hack itself is available here:
http://members.lycos.co.uk/brobert99/Programs/

I hope this provides you with what you need to play legally imported
dvd videos from a region other than the one your dvd player is
designed for.
