Is there a site which accomplishes basically what the Cnet/ZDnet
Catchup site used to accomplish?

I know of a service similar to Catchup that is for the Mac only. Are
you using a Mac or a PC?

Sorry, the Mac solution won't work for me.

BigFix seems only focused on OS-related matters. What I liked about
Catchup, was I could ask it to inventory my software and tell me
whenever any updates, upgrades, or patches were available. I'm
guessing no such product exists or you guys would know about it.

BigFix Consumer Edition might meet your needs:

BigFix Consumer Edition brings the benefits of Patch Manager 3.0 to
small business and individual computer users. The BigFix Consumer
Client automatically downloads and reads technical support information
and alerts you if it applies to your PC, then offers an automated fix
that's easy to understand and simple to install. It can proactively
reduce the number of problems that affect your computer.

This isn't automatic, but it's handy. Here you'll find updates and
patches for Windows:

I'm with magnesium-ga on this one. I used to use Catch-Up
but have been using BigFix for about 2 years now. You can
essentially dispense with using Windows Update if you use
BigFix. The free 'consumer' version is available for
download on this page:
