I would like to know as many possible alternatives to using PowerPoint
as I can find. I am aware of using Word (not great) and of course
Keynote. I would like to use pdfs, Flash etc but am not sure how to do
this.

I guess what I am looking for is on-line teaching resources as well as
software packages that will enable me to do this.

Hi! Would you accept as an answer other presentation software that is
available out there? Just let me know. :)

I thought of this solution since for flash it is quite difficult since
you will need to have flash programming knowledge. So an alternative
presentation software is the best way to go.

I am aware of some other software, particularly the other Office
suites and of course Keynote, but what I am really looking for is in
relation to Falsh and using pdfs for beginner and intermediate users.

Software solutions outside of office suites would be of some interest.

Hi! Do you mean you just want to TUTORIALS on how to create flash
animations and pdf files for beginners?

Yes

That would be a major part of this, but also any software that I am missing.

Not as useful as I would have liked, after looking at each of the
links. One was a duplicate. Didn't really get to what I need, but
helped, perhaps by showing that it is not easy!

You could create your slides in any graphics package and then use an
image viewing propram such as Irfanview to step through the images in
a directory. Irfanview can also take a text file containing a list of
image files and run them as a slideshow.

You can also use the web browser Opera in presentation mode, which may
be useful if you have existing content in HTML format.

You may be interested in the free download of OpenOffice, which
includes a presentation package called Impress. OpenOffice can read
and write files in most popular formats, including the Microsoft
Office file formats.

In addition to the current version, there is also a Beta version that
may be of interest. It allows you to export files in PDF and Flash
(SWF) formats.

Good luck with your projects.
