Hello curiousslc-ga,
If you want to Google someone type their name into Googles (or any
other search engines) search box and see what results come up. Put
the name in quotes like this Mary Jones to keep the name together as
a phrase. Be careful that the results you get refer to the person
youre looking for. This is easy with unique names, but can be hard to
sort out for common names like Mary Jones. You can also Google
yourself to see what others will find when they Google you. Ive
collected a variety of articles to give you some explanations of the
definition and etymology of this new word in the common lexicon as
well as a selection of examples of how people are using googling for
personal and business reasons. Have fun!

Googling is using the popular search engine Google.com to look up
someone's name in an effort to find out more about them. You might
Google your neighbor, your old college roommate, or someone you've
recently met to see what information is available about them on the
Internet. Because Google has a ranking system, there is an
unsubstantiated belief that the more Google returns a person has, the
more important they are.
To Google someone, enter their name enclosed by quotation marks in the
Google search box like this: "Person's name". If you Google yourself,
it is called autoGoogling or egosurfing.

Can Google Expunge the Verb
Today, I found reported on the web a letter from Google Inc.,
trademark counsel. They are writing to Mr. McFedries of WordSpy
complaining about the "google" definition on WordSpy. The letter
complains that WordSpy needs to either delete the word from its
database or to modify the listing to take into account the trademark
status of the word "Google". In this letter trademark counsel for
Google claims that "This definition implies that "google" is a verb
synonymous with "search".

Google: An engine of change
POWERFUL TOOL HAS ALTERED WORK, SOCIAL HABITS, INCREASED PRIVACY
CONCERNS
One in three Americans online say they have plugged the name of
someone they know into a search engine. And one in four have done a
``vanity Google,'' the practice of typing one's own name into the
search box to see what comes up.
Google can even follow you to the workplace.
For a growing number of employers, Google is a handy résumé checker
and allows them to cast a wide virtual net to dig up all they can
about the prospect.

Is someone Google-ing you?
Rev up your search engine in a new sport that reveals how popular your
friends and (potential) acquaintances are.
"I Google, therefore I am"? Perhaps. There's a new existential wrinkle
within the cyber-universe today, a phenomenon by which your life is
defined by all that is posted about you online. When someone types
your name inside quotation marks on the popular search engine Google,
your history emerges, with your past places of employment, significant
others, athletic achievements and academic record potentially popping
up on the screen. Any brushes with the law you'd like to share? If
it's online, it's game.

Dont Be Shy, LadiesGoogle Him! Check Out His Search Engine First
Like many of my twentysomething peers in New Yorks dating jungle, I
have begun to use Google.com, as well as other online search engines,
to perform secret background checks on potential mates. Its not
perfect, but its a discreet way of obtaining important, useless and
sometimes bizarre information about people in Manhattanand its
proven to be as reliable as the scurrilous gossip you get from
friends.

Googling For Dates?
JAK writes "The New York Times' down-to-earth ethicist Randy Cohen
writes on the moral implications of searching for a date's past on
Google. He suggests that the practice is ok (even admitting to doing
it himself) but warns against jumping to conclusions based on a quick
search or confusing someone for others with the same name.

Googling is Serious Business
Everybody knows Google. It has even become a verb that was used on
"Buffy the Vampire Slayer" when Willow was searching for information
on a girl. She googled the girl to find her webpage. I googled my boss
once and discovered that he was infamous in college for his skills at
the Kevin Bacon game. If you google me, well, there are so many people
with my name that you might have trouble knowing when its me and when
its not (hint: I'm not a real estate agent, I'm not married to Tim
Butcher, and I'm not a romance novelist.. this narrows it down.)
