I am looking for a picture of cast members of The Sopranos with a dead
body in a meat locker/freezer. I believe that it ran in Vanity Fair
within the last year.

I have found a photo that shows three members of the cast of "The
Sopranos" with a dead body hanging on a meat-hook and several animal
carcasses. Shown are the actors who play Silvio, Ralphie, and Paulie.
I don't know who the guy on the meat-hook is.

The magazine was not "Vanity Fair," however. The photo is black and
white, and is not very high-res (400 X 448 pixels.)

If this will meet your needs, I'll be glad to provide a link to the
online scan of the photo and details on where to purchase a back-issue
of the magazine in which the original photo appears.

Go ahead and send me the link. I think that's exactly what I was looking for.

The meat locker photo featuring the Sopranos was in the March 29, 2001
issue of Rolling Stone.

Rolling Stone

If the link above is flaky, here is the image on its own:

http://images.mp3.com/rollingstone/content/2041967/Images/00106149.jpg

Here are two online sources from which you can purchase the magazine:

Rolling Stone March 29, 2001 -- issue 865. Back issue, $10.00:

Rolling Stone March 29, 2001 -- issue 865. Back issue, $7.95:

This was an interesting quest. Locating the photo hinged upon
discovering which magazine had published it; that information I found
by using this combination of search terms:

Google Groups Search: "sopranos" + "meat locker"
http://groups.google.com/groups?q=sopranos+%22meat+locker%22

The newsgroup search led me to this post, made in March 2001, which
provided the clue that Rolling Stone was the magazine in question:

"Did any of you happen to catch the new Rolling Stone Magazine? This
is definitely - to me - a great cover. The pictures in the article
itself are great as well, especially the one in the meat locker. I'm
still in the process of reading the article but it's great so far."

Post in alt.tv.sopranos newsgroup
http://groups.google.com/groups?selm=_Z5p6.5378%240s.855846%40e3500-chi1.usenetserver.com&oe=UTF-8&output=gplain

And from there, it was relatively simple to search the online archives
of Rolling Stone to find the photo spread that included the meat
locker pic.

I hope I've provided you with exactly what you need. If this is not
the correct photo, or if you have difficulty opening any of the links,
please request clarification; I'll gladly offer further assistance
before you rate my answer.

Best wishes,
pinkfreud

No, that's not it, though it may have run in the same story. It was a
picture of just a few of the cast members. It may not have been the
Sopranos. It's actually the meat locker that I'm more interested in.
