Purchase, how they were viewed at the time and how they came to be
apppreciated later?  What are the publications that did this?

Alaska and Louisiana purchase seem the "same" in that they were
attacked when done and later in history turned out to have been
brilliant moves and important to the nation's history.

I'd like citations to authors who have commented on and or written
about this similarity.
