I believe that Holmes said in a Supreme Court decision (or a speech) that to clear up misunderstanding, "Read the law; read the law; read the law." I'd like the citation, date, source, etc. |

Greetings Jackeroo: I located only one reference that remotely resembled your query and it was referenced as an "old adage": "Read the law. Read the law, and read the purpose." This appears at http://commdocs.house.gov/committees/bank/hba54727.000/hba54727_0.HTM I wish I could have found attribution to Holmes but perhaps another Researcher will be able to assist you.
