What impact did Lyndon Johnson's War on Poverty and Great Society have
on the lives of American Indians? I'm especially interested in
American Indians who were living in major cities, not on reservations.

My guess is many of the poor Indians living off the reservation gave
up trying to compete with the rest of society for jobs and they and
many of their desendents are now trapped in poverty as are many negro
families. They would have little incentive to return to a reservation
as the dole is about the same either way. Neil
