Is the image of Angelina Jolie a 3D Computer Genrated Model on the Tomb Raider 2 poster? Or is it just a photograph of her? You can view the poster at the following link: http://mediaviewer.ign.com/ignMediaPage.jsp?page_title=World+Premiere%3A+%3Ci%3ETomb+Raider%3A+The+Cradle+of+Life%3C%2Fi%3E+Poster&channel_id=159&article_id=393963&media_id=1700302&adtag=network%3Dign%26size%3D468x60%26channel%3Dtombraider%26site%3Dtombraider_hub%26channel%3Dnews%26type%3Dpartner&fromint=1 | |

Hi there, Tw789! Paramount Studios have confirmed that it is a real photograph of Angelina Jolie with "airbrushing" applied to give it a "hyper real" and vibrant look which was the intention. They didn't use physical airbrushes but like most (if not all) modern graphic designers, they used computer imaging and digital enhancement, so in this sense, it was partially computer generated. Angelina is the only part of the image which is "real" though, the rest are graphics and it was all put together by using digital composition. They did not want to give away too much information about the techniques that were used for a reason known only to themselves, I also didn't find out if they did the work in-house or contracted an outside artist but I imagine that it would be the latter. If you are interested in these digital art techniques, I found some good information for you at the following sites: http://www.astropix.com/HTML/J_DIGIT/INTRO_DE.HTM http://www.artofjamesbond.com/restoration.htm http://www.thetartan.org/96/24/scienceandtechnology/1536.asp http://directory.google.com/Top/Arts/Photography/Techniques_and_Styles/Digital/Resources/ http://directory.google.com/Top/Arts/Photography/Techniques_and_Styles/Digital/Techniques/ http://www.photocourse.com http://internetbrothers.com/phototips.htm http://www.sentex.net/~sfinlay/sitemap.htm I also found some more pictures for you, if you haven't seen them already: http://www.tombraiderchronicles.com/trmovie2/wallpaper.html http://www.tombraiderchronicles.com/trmovie2/postcards.html http://www.tombraiderchronicles.com/trmovie2/poster.html http://www.tombraiderchronicles.com/trmovie2/on_set.html http://www.tombraiderchronicles.com/trmovie2/production.html I hope this helps! Thanks a lot for finding out the answer errol-ga. I suspected that it was CG because among other things the face looks like it's been mapped onto a model. And they wouldn't be lying about the use of a photograph if that's the case. Because they would be using a facial scan. But, I suppose if they say it's just a Photoshoped image; then that's all it must be. |
