I have a print dated 1902. A dog appears to be praying in front of a
childs bed, the bed has tiny Roses on it. The Title is "The Lost
Playmate"", Published by Rapheal Tucker & Sons
The painter's name is Justave Hervoy Mosler.
I paid $90.00 for the print. I am offered $3,000.00 by a collector and
$8,000.00 by a solicitor. I cannot find much information on it. Please
help me. The print is in the orginal frame and there are papers with it
in the back of the frame hidden behind or in between the print and
back side. Miasolita1@aol.com

Hello miasolita1-ga,

I have found some information on this print, as well as the publisher
and artist.

A "Lost Playmate" print was recently auctioned on eBay for $22.99.
Perhaps something went wrong with the original sale, because it is
currently being auctioned again. Perhaps you can contact the seller
to obtain additional information.

As suggested by the auction description, the publisher is actually
Raphael Tuck & Sons (not "Tucker"). You can find many items offered
on eBay and described on the Web if you search for "raphael tuck".

I have found one other reference to an auction of this print. It was
estimated, as part of a set of items, at £40-60.

"May Catalogue Sale on Tuesday 15th May & Wednesday 16th May 200 - Lot
numbers:
842-871 of 1728" [number 851]
Rosebery's
http://www.roseberys.co.uk/Catalogues/as150501/Page19.htm

The Rosebery's description lists the artist as G.H. Mosler. That
means the artist's first name was Gustave (not "Justave"). It appears
that the artist was Gustave Henry Mosler, who is listed in this
encyclopedia entry:

"Mosque" [scroll down about 1/4 of the page to "Mosler, Henry"; his
son "Mosler, Gustave Henry" is listed in that article]
The 1911 Edition Encyclopedia
http://80.1911encyclopedia.org/M/MO/MOSQUE.htm

I hope that this information is helpful.

"lost playmate"
"raphael tuck"

Searched on Google and Ixquick for:

"lost playmate"
"raphael tuck"
mosler gustave
mosler "gustave henry"
