I created a zip file about a million years ago (actually, it's almost
2 years now) that was password protected. I thought that I had used a
trial version of WinZip, 2.0. Right now, when I double-click on the
file, I get a trial version 8.1, so I'm not exactly sure what version
created the .zip

Anyhow, as one might expect, after nearly 2 years, I've forgotten the
password that I used to secure the file.

How can I crack the password; I'd like these files back, and have
tried every password I've used (I thought) in the past 3 or more
years. Any utilities that might help?

It seems that the researcher forgot the first and BEST program to
recover passwords from zip files, it is the fastest because it's
written in optimized assembler and the programmer has received
thousands of congratulations. And another thing, it's FREE! Yes,
freeware. The only downside of this program is that it runs from the
command line, because it has all the other bells and whistles
mentioned (continue where you left after a crash or a pause,
dictionary or brute force, etc, etc), it even suports distributed
cracking of the password using multiple computers.

The URL is: http://www.netgate.com.uy/~fpapa/

If you run the program with nothing in the command line, you will see
the online help, including the FAQ.

Best regards and remember, it's FREE.
