I have found the results of the complaint against Dr. Nicholson. It
appears that the complaint did not go to a hearing. The results do
not indicate the specifics of the complaint, but do indicate the
discipline that was imposed upon him.

Would this information be a sufficient answer?

I know that he was disciplined. I need to know what he was
disciplined. The details must be public

You say that you need to know "what he was disciplined". Does that
mean what he was disciplined for, or what the discipline consisted of?
I assume you mean what he was discplined for -- which I do not know
-- but I wanted to make sure.

Yes I did mean disciplined for!!!!! In short, what did he do to
deserve the license board to discipline him.

Dear judy5-ga;

Thank you for allowing me an opportunity to answer your interesting
question.

Officially at least, the public release is that this physician is
currently on probation for “unprofessional conduct”. But as you can
clearly see, the fact that he has been ordered to see a therapist
“with experience in the treatment of sexual offenses” speaks volumes:

MAINE BOARD OF LICENSURE IN MEDICINE
http://www.docboard.org/me/alphabetmz.html

“NICHOLSON, ANDREW S. M.D.: License # 015480; 1/14/03. In lieu of
proceeding to an Adjudicatory Hearing and in order to resolve an
outstanding complaint, the licensee agrees to the following
discipline: The licensee will restrict his practice of medicine to
adults over 18 years of age. The licensee will participate in ongoing
treatment with a therapist, approved by the Board, with experience in
the treatment of sexual offenses. The Board will receive quarterly
reports from the therapist. The licensee will be on probation and the
Board will order a reevaluation of the licensee after one year from
the effective date of this agreement. This action is based on
unprofessional conduct.”

On Jan 18, 2003 The BANGOR NEWS printed this article: “Family doctor
admits buying child porn”, which was the original incident that led to
Nicholson’s suspension:

There you have it. I hope you find that that my research exceeds your
expectations. If you have any questions about my research please post
a clarification request prior to rating the answer. I welcome your
rating and your final comments and I look forward to working with you
again in the near future. Thank you for bringing your question to us.
