Let's define an "intermediary body" as a private, public or mixed
organisations involved in the process of innovation and technology
transfer to firms (especially small and medium size enterprises). They
are "intermediary" because they are in the middle between sources of
innovation (Universities, research centres, etc.) and firms. Their
primary mission is linking the sources of innovation with the users of
it.
Some examples of intermediaries could be: science parks, technological
centres, university liason offices, ministerial development agencies,
etc.
I am looking for the most complete list as possible of such
"intermediaries" that can be found in SYRIA, JORDAN and LEBANON.
Can you help me?
Best regards,
Pier Francesco |

Dear Mr. Francesco,
Knowing the structure of the Syrian economy, I find it hard to believe
the one could find such institutions in Syria. You may want to
consider amending your question regarding Syria.

Dear politicalguru,
you are surely right...and this is way I posted my question!
First of all I would like to clarify that the organisations I am
refering to can be both public or private, and can be also sigle
(semi-indipendent) branches of Ministry of Industry, Chamber of
Industry, Chamber of Commerce, etc.
I know of course that in Europe there are examples of completely
private service centres...
If the answer still is that in Syria there are NOT such
organisations...I will welcome this answer!
Can you go over for the other countries (Jordan and Lebanon) and
extend to Egypt?
To restrict the field of interest, I let you know that my priority is
at first for the TEXTILE & GARMENT manufacturing sector, and for
multi-sectoral organisation (devoted also but not only to Textile &
Garment).
Thank you!
Pier Francesco

Hello nipper,
I have read your question but am finding difficulty in understanding
your exact requirements. I live in Lebanon and am therefore ideally
placed to carry out research on your question if I can comprehend your
requirements.
Maybe if you could give me some examples of "intermediary bodies" in
the United States or elsewhere, I may be able to help you.

As told before, and "intermediary" is for example: science park,
technological centre, technology transfer centre, etc.
IASP (International Association of Science Parks) www.iaspworld.com is
a world-association of that kind of intermediaries.
In France: ANVAR National Agency for Innovation www.anvar.fr
In Europe: Innovation Relay Centre irc.cordis.lu
In UK: OST - Office of Science and Technology www.ost.gov.uk
In Italy: CITER - Textile Information Centre www.citer.it
Those are only a very few (and very different) examples of what I am
looking for.
In particular (but not exclusevely) I am interested in such
intermediaries in the field of textile&garment in Lebanon, Jordan,
Syria, Egypt.
Thank you.

Nipper1975,
I asked the editors to remove my previous answer to this question, as
I didn't think I could respond to your clarification needs in a timely
and thorough fashion. Perhaps another researcher will be able to
assist you.
