hi, this song is by an r&b male group. it's a slow song, and was released sometime within the last 5 years or so, i think. although i could be wrong, i dont think it was hugely popular (like top 40), as i only heard it on the radio a few times here & there; i never heard it in regular rotation. i would like artist & song title; album title would be helpful, too, if possible. the parts i remember are: "i want you to hold me, control me. dim all the lights, baby spend the nite. ... when the sun starts to fall and the night begins to mellow out, ... baby i'll be here (there?) for the taking...." thanx 4 any help! | |

Unfortunately, I don't have an answer for you about the title and artist of this song, but I do have sympathy -- I have the song on a tape I made off the radio in the mid-90s, and I've been trying to find out those answers for some time now. I just wanted to post a few things that may be of use in some way...the song samples the hook (not the lyrics) from 'What You Won't Do for Love' by Bobby Caldwell, if that helps jog anyone's memory or can provide a lead of some sort. Also, someone else was asking about this song on the forum of a site called Anthems.com last month. Though no one's answered the question, keep an eye on it, you never know. Here's a link to the post: http://www.anthems.com/board/viewtopic.php?t=6006&sid=5 Here are the lyrics: [chorus]: I want you to hold me, control me Dim all the lights, baby spend the night I want you to hold me, control me Dim all the lights, baby spend the night I know what you're thinking, I'm feeling the same way too I wanna be next to you until the early morning Baby spend the night, I'll make you feel so right And I promise you that girl, I'll keep it coming When the sun starts to fall and the night begins to mellow out Baby I'll be here for the taking Lady I'll be right here, so have no fear [chorus] You know what I need girl So give it to me now Bring my love on down Fulfill my fantasies Baby take me higher, set my soul on fire 'Cause you know the answer, oh yeah When the sun starts to fall, and the night begins to mellow out Baby I'll be here for the taking Lady I'll be right here, so have no fear [chorus] When the sun starts to fall and the night begins to mellow out Baby I'll be here for the taking Lady I'll be right here, so have no fear [chorus] |

You are very welcome.:-) I didn't do that great of a job with the lyrics -- there's a spoken intro to the song that I didn't include, and the singer does some vamping around that's a bit difficult to transcribe, but it's all basically there. I also wanted to add, in reference to the poster at Anthems.com who thought that the song might perhaps be by a local Detroit group -- the radio station that I taped the song from is here in Northern California, so even if the singer/group was from Michigan, there was national airplay happening. I'm pulling for you, vinsvixen2! :-) |
