My monitor MultiSync 75 made by NEC, and used with my pentium pc an
windows 95
displays the small print from the www.sunspot.com internet site in an
illegible
way where parts of letters are missing. The trouble is not with the
internet or the site, since my printer (Epson Stylus Color 860) prints
them legibly.

Is there anything I can do?

If not does anybody know the telephone No or e-mail address of NEC?

i

If nothing other than buying a new monitor can be done I think I will
report the problem to Consumer report.

Hello vaac,

I do suggest that you call NEC customer support and attempt to resolve
this problem. You should also note that it could be your video card
that is sending the wrong signals to your monitor, especially if this
is only happening at that website. It could also be a font or driver
problem (the software that makes your monitor and video card work with
Windows 95).

You could try a different monitor on your computer to make sure that
it is a monitor problem. If the problem is not repeated with the
different monitor, you will know that it is the monitor for sure.

You can get the latest drivers from Nec here:

I have seen this, and it has nothing to do with the monitor. The
small print is coded in HTML with size="1". If you have told your web
browser to use "smaller" fonts, you'll see exactly the effect you
describe, because the browser doesn't know how to properly render the
font in a size smaller than "1".

This is a problem when the web page designer uses the numbered sizes
and not pixel-sized fonts. Curiously, the designer of the page in
question uses both, in different places!

If you are using Internet Explorer, select View..Text Size..Medium and
see if that helps. Or try "Large". I don't know how to do this in
other browsers.
