Some of you may have seen a fairly recent BBC drama 'The Lost Prince' by
 Stephen Poliakoff.

 In the Drama one of John's brother features quite prominently throughout the
 drama. ( If he is not visiting his brother John, He is usually sneaking
 into Royal Dinners parties etc. to see who has been invited)

 Question Is this brother the one who becomes George VI, the current Queen's
 father?

 Thanks

You are correct. Young Johnnie's beloved brother Georgie, the Duke of
Kent, later was crowned George VI of England. George VI was the father
of Queen Elizabeth II.

"Most poignant of all Johnnie and Georgie ( Rollo Weeks) his slightly
older brother, later the Duke of Kent, and Johnnie and Lala, (Gina
McKee), his nanny."

"Prince John was one of five brothers, including the future Edward
VIII and George VI and was fifth in line to the throne."

NewsTelegraph.co,uk

"Paradoxically, John's high rank, in the stifled world of
post-Edwardian royal society, seems to have deprived him further of
adequate care. His parents' attachment to him was superficial, their
meetings with him brief and infrequent. Only his older brother George
(the future Duke of Kent) and his devoted nurse believed in and
supported him."

"Question: Why were the other children not seen, and only vaguely
mentioned in the second episode? The program gave the impression that
Johnnie and Georgie were the only children.

Answer: 5. If you were looking carefully you would have seen the other
children at the beginning of Part One and later when Johnnie peers
through the blind at a yellow car. We did not see more of the others
for the simple reason that Johnnie practically never saw them himself.

He saw so little of them that his eldest brother, the supremely
unpleasant Duke of Windsor was able to complain after Johnnie’s
funeral about having to wear mourning for him 'because he's been shut
away and is no more than an animal and none of us have seen him for
the last three years'. Young Georgie was the only exception, he was
the only sibling who was close to Johnnie."

Mongolia,

I have made a huge error. George, the Duke of Kent (the "Georgie" of
"The Lost Prince") did NOT become King George VI. There were two
"Georges" among the children in this family: as a child, George VI was
called "Albert." The other George, much closer in age to Prince John,
is the one depicted in "The Lost Prince."

King George V and his wife, Queen Mary, had six children, two of whom
were king. His children, in age order, were: King Edward VIII, King
George VI, Princess Mary (Princess Royal), Prince Henry (Duke of
Gloucester), Prince George (Duke of Kent) and Prince John (who died as
a child).

George and Mary's Children

* Edward VIII; b. 1894, d. 1972;
* George VI(Albert); b. 1895, d. 1952
* Mary, The Princess Royal; b. 1897, d. 1965
* Henry, The Duke of Gloucester; b. 1900, d. 1974
* George, The Duke of Kent; b. 1902, d. 1942
* John; b. 1905, d. 1919
