Indeed, he was, so long as you view him as, in effect, the prosecutor
in the Oscar Wilde libel suit. Strictly speaking, Edward Carson
defended the Marquis of Queensberry in the case brought by Oscar
Wilde; but, as you probably know, the result of the case destroyed
Wilde's reputation and led soon thereafter to his imprisonment.
Later, Edward Carson defended George Archer-Shee, whose story became
the basis for the play and films "The Winslow Boy".
