Hi alangogo, Thanks for an interesting question. In my personal experience, I've found that the best cd burning software is Nero Burning Rom by Ahead Software. As Cnet says, "When it comes to speed, power, and timely support for the latest technologies and drives, Ahead Nero Burning ROM has no peer in CD/DVD mastering software:" URL: http://reviews.cnet.com/Nero_Burning_ROM_5_5/4505-3514_7-5608522.html?tag=promo2 Nero will definitely perform well with the software setup you've described. If you'd like to back up dvds from dvd to cd, you can learn more about this process here: URL: http://www.dvdrhelp.com/sefy To make a VCD with Nero, see this guide: URL: http://www.dvdrhelp.com/nero.htm I hope you find this information useful, and feel free to request clarification. If you do require clarification, please allow me to provide it before you rate this answer. These days there are many good quality cd burners available that do pretty much the same range of tasks. One that I particularly like is the "TDK" brand of cd writers. My friends seem to prefer lite-on drives, which are also fairly good for a low price. These are just two brands, but there are many others that will meet most people's needs. |

Hi darrel, I will be burning dtat file; various media, including MP3, JPG, BMP, MIDI, and various movie formats like AVI and AUDI WAV MPEG formats and if possible backup some of my favorite DVD's, however that is not a must. Thanks for your help\Alan |
