I tried to use a modem with linux RedHat 7.2.

I connected physically the modem on /dev/ttyS0 when trying 
 /sbin/ifup ppp0

get 
Failed to activate ppp0 with error 2

What do I need to do to get the modem working.
PS Modem works perfectly well on another compute using Linux 6.2

Make sure you aren't using a WinModem and check out the following
