I am applying for a job; they will check my "driving record." My
license is in New York, and an offense (not DWI, but speeding) may
disqulify me. The offense happened in Massachusetts. Will this show up
on my record? (i.e., does Mass. keep records on New York drivers, or
does New York keep records on Mass. offenses?)

The answer depends largely on the method used. It also depends on if
the driver's license they will be checking is the same state license
you got the ticket with and how much time has passed since this took
place. Still, it will depend on whether or not you were actually
convicted (found guilty) of the offense, if you paid a fine of some
kind, or if your license was ever suspended for non-payment of a
traffic fine. Finally, if additional checks are involved such as a
local records check through the agency that originally issued you the
ticket or if they conduct a more thorough check through the FBI, the
results may differ.

You can order a certified abstract of your personal driving record
through the New York State DMV website. There is a six dollar fee, and
it takes about a week for the record to arrive (by mail):
