I want to purchase the actual yellow pages that are delivered to
people's homes in every "city" with a population of more than 250,000
people for the following countries (I have listed their general
location to help out): Bangladesh: Southern Asia, Bhutan: Southern
Asia, Maldives: Southern Asia, Nepal: Southern Asia, Pakistan:
Southern Asia, Sri Lanka: Southern Asia, Armenia: Southwestern Asia,
Azerbaijan: Southwestern Asia, Georgia: Southwestern Asia. I am not
interested in the online yellow pages, commercial directories,
import/export directories etc. What I need are the name of the
companies or agencies that distributes them, along with a contact name
and phone number. Email addresses, websites, costs, and weights would
be nice but are not required. This will allow me to contact each of
them and provide payment and shipping instructions.

Thank You,
Joel

Hello Joel!

Though much of the information was buried in obscure pages, I've found
the following directories/information for you:

ARMENIA

According to a 1999 US Embassy report, telecommunications services for
Armenia are provided by a company called Armentel.

The following contact information is given for Armentel:

Armentel - Armenia Telephone Company
2 Aharonian Street, Yerevan-14, Armenia
Tel: (374-2) 288-761
Fax: (374-2) 151-001

Since the publication of that report, Armentel has developed a
website:

Teh website is still under construction, links for Yellow Pages and
Contacts show as "Coming soon".

AZERBAIJAN

A US Department of Commerce International Trade Administration profile
indicates that the telephone system of Azerbaijan, administered
through the Ministry of Communications, is obsolete and desperately in
need of upgrading. There are likely no Yellow Pages listings at the
moment, you may be able to obtain information about future
publications through the Ministry of Communications:

Ministry of Communications
(MINCOMM)
Ministry of Communications 33 Azerbaycan Prospekti
Baku 370139 Azerbaijan

Fax (994 12) 98-4285

BHUTAN

The Kingdom of Bhutan's single telephone provider is Bhutan Telecom [
http://www.telecom.net.bt ].

The page is miscoded, so the Yellow Pages links do not work. I was
able to find this contact person through another website, however:

The Department of Telecom
Post Box 134,
Thimpu,
Bhutan
Tel: +9752 322678
Fax: +9752 324312

GEORGIA

Very little information is available about the Republic of Georgia.
According to one page I found, there are no Yellow Pages in Georgia:

"There are no yellow pages, companies' catalogs or well- organized
commercial centers (agencies) providing information on local
distributors and sellers. However, U.S. companies may contact
the USDOC Commercial Service in Tbilisi at the U.S. Embassy, the
Georgian Trade Representative in the United States in New York,
the Committee of Foreign Economic Relations, and the Georgian
Chamber of Commerce and Industry to inquire concerning
distributors or sellers in Georgia."

Telephone service is regulated by the Ministry of Post and
Telecommunications. You might have some luck obtaining business
listings through the ministry:

Ministry of Post and Telecommunications.
2, 9th April street,
Tbilisi, Georgia.
Phones: (+995 32) 997777; (+995 32) 984343

MALDIVES

According to the Maldives Tourism Promotion Board, the population of
the entire nation of Maldives is about 270,000. Of the 200 inhabited
islands, 87 are exclusive resort islands.

Telephone service is mostly mobile, there appear to be no printed
directories available. The single telephone company of Malidves,
Dhiraagu, provides only an e-directory.

You may, however, be able to get a printed listing by contacting
Dhiraagu:

Hi Joel!

My apologies for missing Pakistan last night. That will teach me to

Hello Joel,

If you need the Yellow pages from Pakistan, I could arrange for my
family to mail the phonebooks to you. Or, you could easily get most of
the information from sites such as
http://www.apnakarachi.com/directory/phone/phone.asp,
http://www.apnalahore.com/channel/directory/directory.asp
http://www.apnaislamabad.com/directory/phone/phone.asp

Basically the prefix "apna" means "My" or "Our."

Let me know if you need the paper copies.

atharkhan,

Thanks for the nice catch, there. In my attempts to make sure I had
everything organized and in alphabetical order, I missed one entirely.
 You're a peach!
