I want to purchase the actual yellow pages that are delivered to people's homes in every "city" with a population of more than 250,000 people for the following countries (I have listed their general location to help out): Burundi: Central Africa, Chad: Central Africa, Rwanda: Central Africa, Zaire: Central Africa (Currently called Democratic Republic of the Congo), Central African Republic: Central Africa, Djibouti: Eastern Africa, Ethiopia: Eastern Africa, Seychelles: Eastern Africa, Somalia: Eastern Africa, Uganda: Eastern Africa, São Tomé and Príncipe: Western Africa. I am not interested in the online yellow pages, commercial directories, import/export directories etc. What I need are the name of the companies or agencies that distributes them, along with a contact name and phone number. Email addresses, websites, costs, and weights would be nice but are not required. This will allow me to contact each of them and provide payment and shipping instructions. Thank You, Joel |

Hello Joel, Here are the telephone directory suppliers for the countries/cities you requested. The links were 'mined' from a variety of rather obscure pages. Most of these African nations have a nationalized monopoly telephone company. Burundi: Office National des Telecommunications (ONATEL) B.P. 60 Bujumbura Tel: 257-22-3196 Fax: 257-22-6917 Source: http://telecom.ita.doc.gov/ot/mktctry.nsf/504ca249c786e20f85256284006da7ab/f9c23dfe746d7b9c852566db005f3c72!OpenDocument Chad: Telecommunications Internationales du Tchad B.P. 1132 N'Djamena Tel: 235 - 52 14 36 Fax: 235 - 52 14 42 http://www.tit.td Rwanda: Société Rwandaise des Télécommunications P.O. Box 1322 Kigali Tel : (250) 76777 Fax : (250)73110 http://www.rwanda1.com/ Zaire (Democratic Republic of the Congo) The Democratic Republic of the Congo does claim 20,000 telephones, and a nationalized telephone company, however, after years of civil war, they have very little telecommunication infrastructure and therefore almost local information available online. I'm not able to track this one down. Perhaps another searcher, or a site member from the region would have better luck. The telephone company name is: Société de Télécommunications du Congo (SOTELCO). Central African Republic SOCATEL (236) 61.32.10 / (236) 61.26.62 / (236) 61.04.50 Email: abdelazi@intnet.cf http://www.socatel.intnet.cf/contacts.htm Djibouti Societe de Telecommunications Internationales de Djibouti Tel: 253-35-59-38 stid@intnet.dj http://www.intnet.dj/stid/index.html Ethiopia The Ethiopian Telecommunications Corporation P.O.Box 1047, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia Tel. 251-1-515513 251-1-510500 Ext. 251,432,380 http://www.telecom.net.et/indexvmb.html Seychelles It's not clear if Yellow Pages are published. Population is under 80,000 for the entire island nation. Telephone service is regulated by the Ministry of Telecommunications: Ministry of Telecommunications +248-382-038 telecoms@seychelles.net Somalia Sudatel - Sudan Telecommunications Company Website contact form only: http://www.sudatel.net/english/contact_us.htm Uganda No Yellow Pages available. Approximately 50,000 telephone subscribers in the country. São Tomé and Príncipe Companhia Santomense de Telecomunicaçôes +239 12 22226 http://www.stome.telepac.net/ (in Portuguese) I hope this meets your requirements. I'll be happy to provide clarification if needed. ~larre-ga |
