Question ID: 21144
I want to purchase the actual yellow pages that are delivered to
people's homes in every "city" with a population of more than 250,000
people for the following countries (I have listed their general
location to help out): Mozambique: Southern Africa, Namibia: Southern
Africa, Swaziland: Southern Africa, Zambia: Southern Africa, Zimbabwe:
Southern Africa, Comoros: Southern Africa (islands in the mozambique
channel), Benin: Western Africa,
Burkina Faso: Western Africa, Cameroon: Western Africa, Cape Verde:
Western Africa, Congo, Democratic Republic of the: Western Africa. I
am not interested in the online yellow pages, commercial directories,
import/export directories etc. What I need are the name of the
companies or agencies that distributes them, along with a contact name
and phone number. Email addresses, websites, costs, and weights would
be nice but are not required. This will allow me to contact each of
them and provide payment and shipping instructions.

Thank You,
Joel

Indigoblue-ga,

I am uncertain about your answer. You have given me the on-line
websites for the countries but I cannot find the contact name, phone
number, email address nor costs. 2 of the countries(Zimbabwe and
Congo, Democratic Republic of the) do not have websites. Also, I am
looking for cities within the countries that have a population of more
than 250,000 people. Is it possible to obtain the information I
requested?

Thanks,
Joel

The Cost of obtaining a copy of the yellow pages will mainly depend on
the destination it is to be shipped to, if you provide me with a
typical destination address I will contact the companies to get an
idea of how much it will cost to get the directories.

A lot of the Telephone companies in Africa serve a fairly small number
of Telephone subscribers and do not appear to have named contacts for
the obtaining Yellow Pages.

There are no Websites available for Zimbabwe and Congo Democratic
Republic Yellow Page providers. Congo DR has had a civil war for the
last couple of years and most of the companies infrastructure has been
devsastated, although Zimabawe is a surprise and I will research
further into this.

Please let me know if you require further clarification

Hi Joel,

I am pleased to be able to further clarify the situation with
obtaining Yellow Pages in Zimbabwe. Up to January 2001, the
directories were provided by the Post and Telecommunications
Corporation(PTC). At this time the Zimbabwean Government
commercialised the organisation and renamed it TelOne. Hence the
reason I had difficulty in finding website

TelOne provides Phone directories at a cost of Z$165.50 (approx 36
cents US$1 = Z$450). See article
(http://allafrica.com/stories/200204240161.html)

Website: http://www.telone.co.zw
Telephone Number: +263 4 798111
EMail: marketing@telone.co.zw

Contacts: Customer Services Managers
Elijah Chiremba
Eustace Maboreke
Roger Chiriseri

I hope this clarifies the suituation in Zimbabwe, please let me know
if you need further information.
