and then sounds like "groove, groove."  Sounds like the Temptations or
some band from the 1960s.  May or may not have been a #1 song.  Might
also be "shame shame shame" but that's the only part of the song I can
remember.

chain of fools ....")  The most popular version was done by Aretha

Here's yet another possibility:  Ike and Tina Turner also recorded a
song called "Shame, Shame, Shame."  I haven't been able to find an
original release date for the song, nor the original album it was on.
Their discography ( http://art.staviator.com/I/Ike_and_Tina_Turner.html
) shows 24 albums released from 1962 to 1969, but I haven't been able
to find track lists for all of them. However, Ike & Tina did of course
have many songs in the 60's and this may well have been one.  It does
have that sound. You can hear a clip of it on a newer "Best of"
