Question ID: 211693
OS = Windows XP, Mail client = Outlook Express 6.0

Recently deleted some emails from inbox, then emptied the deleted
items folder.

Would like to know if there's any method or software etc. which might
be able to recover these fully or partially.

Similarly, deleted a folder containing a number of files from the
desktop to the recycle bin, then emptied the recycle bin. Any chance
of getting them back again partially or fully would be useful.

Any tips or info much appreciated, thanks.

I've done little work on the machine since deletion & no software
installation, defrag, disk cleanout etc. if that info helps at all.

Hi gan!!

First of all it is VERY important to reduce at minimum as possible the
use of the PC until you can recover your files; so you are right when
you say "I've done little work on the machine since deletion & no
software installation, defrag, disk cleanout, etc", it really helps.

I found some applications that will help you in the recovery of your
valuable data. Also I tested the Demo versions of these software and
they really do great things. Remember that to install this software in
a different partition or HD, if it is possible.

For your e-mails I recommend to you the FINALeMAIL software:
http://www.finaldata.com/final_email.asp

This soft is very intuitive and the help files are very informative,
try downloading the Demo version in order to see its power.
You can see a manual and a quick guide in the following pages (need
Acrobat Reader), I suggest you to take a look at least to the Quick
Guide:
Manual:
http://www.finaldata.com/efiles/manual/FINALeMAILManual.pdf

Quick Guide:
http://www.finaldata.com/efiles/manual/FINALeMAILQuickGuide.pdf

In order to recover your files, the recommended product is FINALDATA
Standard.
But there is a n Enterprise version that works with files and mails,
to see a comparison chart of features:
http://www.finaldata.com/product_cp.asp

You can download Demos, manuals and quick guides from here:
http://www.finaldata.com/download.asp

The Products Information page:
http://www.finaldata.com/product_info.asp

The limitation for the demo version is that you can see the files
and/or messages that are possible to recover, but you cannot recover
it untio you run a registered version.
To see prices:
http://www.finaldata.com/online_digital.asp

As you can see may be your better choice will be FINALeMAIL +
FINALDATA Standard.
Remember that FinalData INC recommends that you try the demo versions
of the software before purchasing. By doing so, you will ensure the
performance of FinalData in your specific data loss situation.

A cheaper option to recover files (but not useful for mails) is
Recoverer2000.
This is a very good software, I proved the demo (it has as limitation
the possibility to recover files of sizes less than 64KB, but you can
see if your files would be recovered). The demo works very well, the
software seems to be very intuitive. I deleted several small files,
then empty the Recycle Bin and then I could recover these files.
See the web page:
http://www.bitmart.net/r2k.shtml

You can download the help file (just download it, save it and open it
to see how it works):
http://www.bitmart.net/dwnld/restorer2000.hlp

Download Restorer2000 Free DEMO 2.0:
http://www.bitmart.net/download.shtml

The prices starts at $29.99 ($50 less than the FINALDATA Standard):

There are more software, but these appear to be the better two.

Search Strategy:
deleted mails recovery
file recovery

To see the results pages just go to www.google.com and in the search
box copy the keywords.

I hope this helps. If you need more help or have doubts with the soft
please post a request for an answer clarification before rate this
answer (I became a little familiar with the softs because the tests
that I did). Remember that this question it isn´t finished until your
entire satisfaction. Consider that the files to be recovered can be
damaged or partially overwritten, and in this case the impossibility
of recover them doesn´t came from a failure of the software.

Best Regards.
