Hello supa,
Thanks for your question. I am afraid that your options are rather
limited. My first suggestion is to call up your ISP(s) and find out
if anyone has been using your account. The only other piece of
information that could be tracked to your laptop, as far as the
Internet goes, would be your MAC address. This is a number which is
associated with your network card. It is used by remote servers to
communicate with your PC. It would be possible to trace your computer
this way, although you would have to know specifically where and when
the thief was connecting from. Since you don't have this information,
it would almost certainly fruitless to try. You could try calling up
the local ISP(s) and providing them with the MAC address but I very
much doubt they will devote any resources to help you. Your only real
hope would be to contact the local pawn shops, and go to the local
swap meets. This type of theft is very common, and even the most
experienced of investegators rarely ever recover one. Here are some
links to some anti-theft laptop software. Installing this software on
a laptop will allow it to secretly e-mail you at predetermined times
and tell you its location. This would improve your chances of
recovery many times over, should this happen again in the future. I
hope this helps.
