I have recently added a room, with its own heat source, to my house .
Not surprisingly, our heat bill has gone up, but I don't know how much
to attribute to the additional room and how much to attribute to the
colder winter we had in New England this year. Please find a online
source of heating degree days, by day or at least by month, for the
previous two Winters, 2001-2002 & 2002-2003.

Hello bob10-ga,

Using the following page, you can obtain the preliminary monthly data
worksheets from the National Weather Service, which include daily,
total, and total departure from normal for heating degree days in
Boston.

"Preliminary Monthly Data Worksheets"
National Weather Service Forecast Office - Boston, MA
http://www.erh.noaa.gov/er/box/worksheet2.shtml

You can purchase official data for Logan Airport from the National
Climatic Data Center. You can start at this page:

"Climate-Radar Data Inventories - Boston Logan Int'l Airport"
National Climatic Data Center (NCDC)
http://www4.ncdc.noaa.gov/cgi-win/wwcgi.dll?wwDI~StnSrch~StnID~20009288

I hope that this information is helpful.
