Testing the question system :)

I get my caffeine fixes mostly from dietPepsi. Appropriately, I'm looking for
a visual history of Pepsi bottles and cans, especially bottles since
1950 or so. Is there a site that has a collection of bottles shown in
a single image? Where could I buy or collect the earliest (or at least
a very early) dietPepsi bottle?

I have all the necessary plug-ins to visit just about anywhere, but
please warn me if you're sending me somewhere with blaring music. My
12-year-old neutered tomcat, coincidentally named after a mathematical
term for a very large number (G.o.o.g.o.l), *hates* loud music that
disturbs his naps on top of the monitor.

Larre-ga,

I never knew how many old Pepsi bottles there were! Wow. I found quite
a few sites with photos, mostly individual shots rather than
groupings. You may already know this, but dietPepsi was also called
Pepsi Free, so some really cute bottles for "diet" don't actually say
that. A picture of one can be seen here (Beware! Loud noises will
ensue.) its in the middle of a row of other bottles in the 3rd photo
down:
http://www.angelfire.com/in2/pepsiworld/bot2.html

Additionally there is a directory of various Pepsi sites with photos,
some with loud music, at:
http://dmoz.org/Recreation/Collecting/Food_and_Drink_Related/Soda/Pepsi/

Below is the one of the pages listed, which suggests a book on antique
Pepsi Bottles, "Pepsi: Cola Bottles Collector's Guide" by James Ayers
as an invaluable resource for those interested in purchasing antique
bottles.

http://www.antiquebottles.com/pepsi/

Additionally the site links to sites where you can purchase various
Pepsi bottles: http://www.antiquebottles.com/rl/pepsi/ and
http://www.antiquebottles.com/forsale.html.

Probably the easiest way of purchasing a very early Pepsi Free bottle
is by bidding on one at eBay. Three are currently up for auction, and
one still even has Pepsi in it! You can see and bid on them here:

http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?MfcISAPICommand=GetResult&ht=1&SortProperty=MetaEndSort&ebaytag1code=0&query=pepsi+free+bottle

Also some very old diet Pepsi bottles are being auctioned. The 1960s
set is very cute! Also the old bottle caps are interesting
collectibles.

Another publication that is reccommended highly is PEPSI : COLA
BOTTLES & MORE
COLLECTORS GUIDE VOL. 2 By James C. Ayers (like the above title, but
VOL 2 allegedly does not contain the same pictures as Vol 1, and it
mentions Pepsi Free specifically) It is the seventh publication listed
here:

http://www.glswrk-auction.com/gsotherauthors.htm

Here's the biggest grouping of Pepsi bottles I could find in one
single photo on the web:

http://daggett.tv/jon/pepsi1.html

He has another page with another pretty large group photo also:

http://daggett.tv/jon/pepsi2.html

Here's one last site that had some post 1950s bottles, though no diet
right now:
http://www.signorltdpartnership.com/soda_collectibles.htm

I would also reccommend visiting antique stores in your area, they
might have some nice bottles.

Hope this helps you start a collection, or at least see some other big
ones people have started. Good luck hunting!

I just figured I would throw in a quick mention for one last bottle
which I find interesting.

The forerunner to Diet Pepsi was Diet Patio and that is a nice image
of one of their bottles.
