Dear Bowling,

There are several sites that list (for free) foreclosed homes,
including in Ventura County.

Foreclosure Free Search:
http://www.foreclosurefreesearch.com/county?state=CA&countyNo=111
(right now, only one house is listed; membership is required for some
activities, but the registration/membership is free).

Foreclosure World http://www.foreclosureworld.net/ also gives free
search to members ("simple" membership is again, free)

Fireclosures.com http://www.foreclosuresus.com/listings.asp?state=CA
offers listings, but it is by city breakdown, not counties.

Due to the amount of misinformation in this field, I'd like to add
Foreclosure.com <http://www.foreclosures.com/> is not entirely for
free, but it has several important tips, and a "warning list" that
might be helpful to you.

The discussion group alt.invest.real-estate
http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&group=alt.invest.real-estate
might be also of interest for you.

I hope that answered your question. Feel free to contact me if you
need any clarification on this answer. I'd be pleased to clarify my
answer before you rate it.

OK, thank you, then what lists are all of those spammers talking about
when they e-mail everyone saying they have lists of foreclosures?

Dear Bowling,

You answered that yourself: spammers. Aimed at collecting your
personal details to to sell you something.

Since spammers are criminals, who bother people with unsolicited mail,
I wouldn't buy from them water if I was in the middle of the desert,
let alone foreclosure lists.
