Currently, the business uses a dedicated inkjet all-in-one FAX on its
own phone line to receive international orders 24/7; and a barely
functioning answerphone to handle voice messages. The business wants
to assure that FAXs are received without the hindrance of "out of
paper" or "out of ink" error messages. We want at least some
notification that there are voicemail messages waiting in queue.
Internet web site presence is maintained by an ISP, but internet
access is dial-up. We are considering establishing broadband service.
I have networked my home system as a small workgroup using a small
router connected to a cable modem and have no problem with installing
similar in the business.
We plan to buy a new PC (possibly Dell with 2 Xeon processors) and
would like to have a "black box" arrangement to bring both FAXs and
voice messages into the computer, or absent that, to bring in FAXs on
one PC and voice message notification on another existing PC.
WWW.Blackbox.com offers a "Fax/Messaging Partner," but it's unclear
whether further software/cards are needed - their tech services could
not answer this question.
Is there a better path or hardware approach that would involve minimal
cost, <$500 (exclusive of new PC), so that we can better automate our
business? |
