Hello mindsponge-ga!
Try as I might, I could find no tutors or services that claimed to
follow the practices of Lindamood Bell in San Diego or the outlying
areas. I wish I could have satisfied that aspect of your search!
However, I did find some tutoring services and learning centers that
might fit the bill.

School Difficulties and Smart Kids
"If your children are having trouble in school, it doesn't mean
they're not smart. While some academic problems are the result of
learning disabilities and emotional problems, many children often just
need more time, more attention, and more personalized instruction than
they're getting in a typical school setting.
Fusion Learning Centers specialize in designing personalized
educational plans for all children. By working to improve the whole
individual, Fusion goes far beyond simple tutoring. Not only do we
teach and help motivate our students to learn, more importantly, we
integrate their social, emotional, and academic needs so they'll have
more success in school and in life.
Fusion is a one-on-one educational mentoring program. This trusting,
supportive relationship helps our students develop new skills and new
attitudes that will serve them well . . . both in and out of the
classroom.
==
Fusion Learning Centers provides professional, real-world advice and
consultation regarding school problems and direct instruction to
overcome those problems. Our complete list of academic and
character-building services is:
* Private academic tutoring in all subjects
So much more than ordinary tutors, our Educational Therapists and
Educational Mentors are fully trained to create a healthy, meaningful,
one-on-one relationship with your child.

An excerpt about the Fusion Learning Center can be found in the
article,

Fusion Learning Center in Solana Beach blends the more traditional
approaches to helping students get better grades with techniques that
allow them to assess and deal with deeper educational deficiencies.
But the center takes it one step further, founder and Chief Executive
Officer Michelle Rose Gilman said.
"It's really a combination of educational therapy and mentoring, and
what makes it unique is that we deal with all the different aspects of
the learner," she said.
Educational therapy combines educational and therapeutic approaches to
learning to help children with learning differences.
"We deal with any barriers that may be in the way of somebody learning
---- emotional, academic, learning disabilities, attention-deficit
disorder, family issues, any type of emotional disorders," she said.
The company has grown immensely in the last few years ---- six years
ago, Gilman hired her first employee, and now the center has 15
teachers and recently moved into a 2,000-square-foot office building
in Solana Beach.
Gilman said the company will gross approximately $500,000, up 30
percent over last year. In fact, she said it has grown about 30
percent every year since she started it in her garage 14 years ago.
The company charges $65 an hour to meet one-on-one with a teacher and
$14 an hour for its drop-in "homework cafe."

Many other private tutors were available through a Yellow Pages
search, but since they had no websites, I was unable to verify
subjects and credentials.

Three other thoughts:
Have you contacted any of the Sylvan Learning Centers in San Diego to
see if they have any tutors who have been certified in Lindamood Bell
methods and then chosen to teach at Sylvan?
Have you contacted Lindamood Bell to ask if they know of any tutors
working outside the system? (most likely, they wouldn't tell you, but
there is always a chance)
Lindamood Bell does offer financial assistance. Is that a possibility
for you?
==
I am sorry I could not give you the specific answer you hoped for,
which was a Lindamood Bell certified tutor working outside the system.
However, I sincerely hope these suggestions provide some alternatives.
Please let me know if you need any additional clarification and I
will be more than happy to help if I can!
