According to Find Law: Q: What Are My Rights Under a Life Estate? State: NJ "Very generally, a life estate entitles a person to use or get income from particular property as long as he or she is alive. There is no such animal as a general life estate with one established set of rights. Specific rights in a life estate are determined and controlled by the document, usually a trust, that establishes the life estate. I'm adding this as a comment because I was unsuccessful at finding the requested information. Perhaps another researcher will know of other appropriate terminology . You can search New Jerseys statutes by keyword, by going to http://www.njleg.state.nj.us/ and choosing the "Statutes" link under the "Laws and Constitution" heading on the left side of the page. keywords searched on: "life estate" life estate life estate tenant |
