Hi Millipet!

Fear not, you should be able to correct the '.net' in your URL to
'.com' without too much trouble. I am working on the assumption that
your site is currently listed as:

California History for the Young Reader
www.prosperitypressca.net

If this is not the case, the following advice will still be equally
applicable for any other URL.

By searching Google for 'California History Series', your site comes
up as result #2, drawn from the Google Directory. The Google
Directory is a list of sites categorized in a hierarchical manner
which is based upon information from the Open Directory Project
(http://dmoz.org). You will notice that part of the information
displayed on the results page is

"Category: Shopping > Publications > Books > Local Interest > North
America"

indicating which category in the directory your site belongs to.

The Open Directory Project allows the alteration of a site URL as
described at:

Open Directory Project: Changing Your Site Listing
http://dmoz.org/help/update.html

Using this as a guide, simply browse to the category containing your
site, and click on the 'Update URL' link and follow the resulting
instructions. In the case of www.prosperitypressca.net, this was
listed at:

Open Directory -> Shopping: Publications: Books: Local Interest: North
America
http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Publications/Books/Local_Interest/North_America/

Now, this is the point in my answer where things become slightly more
complex. Having checked for the presence of www.prosperitypressca.net
in the above category, I notice that it has been removed, presumably
because the URL is not valid. Because there is a slight delay in
Google updating its directory from the Open Directory, the site is
temporarily still listed on Google. This will not remain to be the
case once the Google Directory is refreshed over the next few weeks.

So unfortunately your site may briefly be removed from the Google
index. However, there is also good news; your site has been relisted
by the Open Directory Project with the .com address in a different
category at:

Open Directory Project
http://dmoz.org/Business/Publishing_and_Printing/Publishers/Books/Education/PreK_through_12/

Therefore, your site should soon appear in the Google Directory, and
therefore in the Google index, as www.prosperitypressca.com in the
following category.

Business -> Publishing and Printing -> Publishers -> Books ->
Education -> PreK through 12

So, after a somewhat extended answer, the above can be summarized to
say that assuming your site is indeed www.prosperitypressca.com,
Google will sort out the problem automatically over the next month or
so. If I am mistaken and you are talking about a different site, then
simply follow my initial instructions to alter your URL and your
listing will be corrected shortly.

I hope this proves useful to you and you are successful in the use of
the new URL. If you would clarification of any area of this answer
please do not hesitate to ask.

Kind regards,

Oops, please excuse my typo in the last sentence. It should read:

"If you would *like* clarification of any area of this answer
please do not hesitate to ask before rating my answer."
