looking for a software that you can backup your entire harddrive to
dvdr discs and then reload it in case of crash.

Hi there,

Not only is Norton Ghost (in my opinion) the best consumer backup
software for a PC, the 2003 version supports DVDR.

"Norton Ghost 2003 can save images to and restore images from a DVD
disc that uses the format DVD+ RW, DVD- RW, DVD+R, or DVD-R."
