Can you help me understand the exact meaning of your question? Do you
mean "Is there a great risk of infection CAUSED BY a bladder tap?"

Since cystocentesis is often performed because infection is suspected,
there obviously will be many cases where an infection is confirmed
"after a bladder tap." That doesn't necessarily mean that the bladder
tap was the cause.

My cat was losing a little weight. He is only 2 years old, and the
weight loss began after I changed his diet from all dry food to all
wet food. Therefore, the vet wasn't too worried. Although, he wanted
to rule out diabetes, and early kidney disease by doing a urinalysis.
In order to do this, he had to tap his bladder. His urinalysis was
fine, but I am worried that hi is now at risk for infection secondary
to the bladder tap. I don't know if infection is a great risk after a
bladder tap or now.
