Hi al_hgs-ga,

I will answer your question on the assumption that it is your Google
Answers username that you are interested in changing.

Unfortunately, since Google Answers uses 'al_hgs-ga' as your unique
identifier, while there are options to change other information about
yourself, it is not possible to directly change one's username.
However, it is an easy task to remove the association of the name
'al_hgs-ga' from your current email address, and then simply
reregister your email address with a different username. I shall
describe how to do this below.

Log into Google Answers using your current username, and visit the 'My
Profile' page in the 'My Account' section, or alternatively click this
link:

Google Answers: My Profile
https://answers.google.com/answers/main?cmd=myprofile

Now, click on the 'Change Email or Password' button displayed towards
the top of the page. This gives you the options of:
"
    * Change the e-mail associated with your account
    * Change your password
    * Delete your account
"
At this point you have a choice; you can either permanently delete
your account, or alternatively, change the email address associated to
your account. It does not matter particularly which you do, although
the former is probably simpler.

Having done this, the email address you currently use to log into
Google Answers will be available to use when registering a new
account. You start a new account through the Google Answers front
page by clicking on the 'Create a new account link'.

Google Answers Front Page
http://answers.google.com/answers/main

It may be necessary to click the Log Out link on this page if you are
still logged in as al_hgs-ga at this point.

Having started the creation of a new account, you will be asked to
enter, amongst other things, your email address, and your desired new
username. Having completed the registration process, your identity on
Google Answers will be changed to your new username.

I hope this method is useful to you; if you would like clarification
of any area, please do not hesitate to ask.

Kind regards,

mcfly-ga :)

I think he does. And I would'nt mind changing my user name from
bwl77-ga to just plain old "roger-ga". Any further comment from
any GAR to clarify this would be appreciated by Roger

Dear Roger:

I believe you must register a different user name although an email to
the GA editors could better answer this question.

If you did acquire a different user name account, you might wish to
reference your "bwll77" nickname when you asked a question. You could
even make your user name "roger_formerly_bwll77" (if that many
characters are allowed) or, when using your new user name, always add
a clarification that you are "formerly bwll77" so that other
Researchers could locate your first account if you want them to review
a past question.

Best regards,
journalist-ga
