Hello jeffster1,

According to the Alexa website, all versions of Alexa can be
uninstalled. Researchers are not allowed to do tasks such as removing
files, or remotely access your computer. This is simply to keep your
computer healthy, and to protect us from the damages that are always
possible. With that said, I can definitely show you how to do it.

Due to copyright restrictions, I can not copy the whole set of
instructions. I will simply lead you directly to the information you
need ;-)

Alexa ToolBar Uninstall with instructions
"All versions of the Alexa Toolbar have an uninstall feature. It will
be located in different places, depending on which version you have
installed."
http://pages.alexa.com/exec/faqsidos/help/index.html?index=7

You'll note that there is also an alternative method to remove this
program, that you may find easier. It doesn't require you to know
which version you are running, but is for Internet Explorer only. Here
is the link for your convenience :

Alexa Uninstall
"The following process will uninstall Alexa Toolbars 3, 4, 5, or 6
from Internet Explorer."
http://pages.alexa.com/exec/faqsidos/help/index.html?index=38

To assist with this answer I went directly to the Alexa website, and
searched for instructions on how to remove the toolbar :

This information should be what you needed. Should you need more
resources, or something simply does not work, ask for clarification. I
will do all I can to help you get the answer you need.

Thanks for the great question!

jeffster,

As I am naturally distrustful of any Adware / Spyware / Scumware
company, rather than take Alexa's word for *anything*, I chose to
remove it with Spybot Search & Destroy. You can download this
WONDERFUL program for FREE (you may make a donation to help support
the author for his periodic updates if you wish) at:
http://security.kolla.de/index.php?lang=en&page=download

While you're at it, if you don't already have it, I encourage you to
download another free scumware-busting program, Lavasoft's AdAware:
http://www.lavasoft.de/support/download

The two programs are not identical, and they complement each other
well for protection. I and numerous other Researchers use both to keep
our systems clean.

*NOTE* Both programs, when you run them, have a "Check for Updates"
feature. Be sure to do this periodically, as the scumware companies
are constantly coming up with new ways to invade your privacy, and you
may need the most current version of Spybot S&D or AdAware to get rid
of the newer pests.

Regards,

aceresearcher
