Hi,

Have you tried reinstalling the software that comes with your scanner?

Thanks.

Hi Moki,

There are several ways to bring back a missing icon to your desktop.
First of all, check your Recycle Bin and see if the missing icon is
there. If it's there, you simply right-click on it and choose restore
and it will return to your desktop.

In case the icon is not in the Recycle Bin, If you are sure that your
scanner software is intact and there's no problem, you can do the
following options.

1) If you are using Windows 98 and later versions, you can simply
press Start > Programs > locate your Acerscan 620S program group and
locate the missing icon if it's there. Right-click on it and choose
Send To > Desktop (create shortcut). A new icon will be placed on your
desktop. You can also just press and hold Ctrl and drag the icon to
the dektop from your Start menu programs.

2) In case the icon is not in Start menu programs, you can open
Windows Explorer or My Computer and go to Program Files. Locate the
Acerscan installation folder, find the file with that missing icon,
right-click on it and choose Send To > Desktop (create shortcut). A
new icon will be placed on your desktop.

3) In case you have trouble locating the file, right-click on the
Acerscan installation folder and choose Find or Search (depending on
your Windows version). In the search dialogue box, type in *.exe and
search it. All the .exe files in the Acerscan installation folder will
appear in the search result. From there, locate the file with the icon
that you are looking for and right-click, choose Send To > Desktop
(create shortcut). A new icon will be placed on your desktop.

In case you find the following steps hard to follow or you are
confused in any way, you can follow my good colleague's suggestion
about reinstalling the software. From the Add/Remove programs,
uninstall your Acerscan software, reboot, and then re-install your
Acerscan software. Make sure to read and follow the intructions. If it
automatically creates the icon on your desktop, you have no problem.

I hope this helps you. Should you have any comments/questions, please
feel free to post your clarification before rating this and I'll
attend to you as soon as possible. Thanks for asking.

Best regards,
Feilong

Feilong-ga: I tried each one of your suggestions and still cannot
find the icon.
reference your #1. I located the folder to the acerscan but it does
not show the icon. I tried all of your suggestions and it was no help
to finding the icon. Any other suggestions, or could it be the
software? Thank you. Moki36-ga

Hi Moki,

"Any other suggestions, or could it be the software?"

If you have tried each of the possible solutions, there is a chance
that the problem is software based. There is also the possibility that
you may have missed something in the installation procedure so recheck
what you did or, if you decide to try to reinstall the software again,
read the directions carefully and use the product's manual about
installation.

Since it's likely the problem is software based, please download the
following from the Benq support page. Don't worry, the site is
correct. I was redirected to Benq.com when I searched for your driver
at Acer.com.

BenQ America Corp. website
Imaging Device Drivers
http://www.benq.com/drivers/imaging_drivers.html

Carefully choose Model 620S/ST and download the:

Device Driver - Win9x/NT/2000/Me/XP
http://www.benq.com/ss_download/drivers/imaging/mirascan_v342s.exe

Acard SCSI Driv - Win9x/NT/2000/Me/XP
http://www.benq.com/ss_download/drivers/imaging/acardv141.exe

By the way, before reinstalling, make sure to uninstall the device
driver first before the SCSI driver. Make sure to follow screen
directions and reboot whenever prompted. So as to be sure, please read
the following carefully before reinstalling:

Installation Instructions - from the Benq Imaging Device Drivers page
http://www.benq.com/drivers/imaging_drivers.html

There is a chance that the drivers on the page are updated and may be
slightly different from your old driver. Please download the Manual
for the 620 series scanner at Benq Imaging Device Drivers page or
download the printable pdf file by right-clicking on the link below
and choose "Save Target As..." If you have Adobe Acrobat installed,
you can also view the file directly from your browser by pressing the
"Shift" key before clicking on the link so it will open a new window
or right-clicking on it and choosing "Open in New Window" for your
convenience.
