What are the guidelines for gastrostomy tube feeding? Are there any rest periods
for the stomach? I work at a long term care facility & some of the gt residents
get fed almost continuously. Also, as elders, their systems are not able to
tolerate this much fluid. Results, CHF, Pneumonias, Impactions, HUGE weight
gains taxing their bodies.
Also, medicines with feedings? Some are specific before but we give meds usu.
24 X 7. There are a lot of them getting protein added too.
Can you help me understand why you would feed someone so many cans per day and
the entire time listening to the congestion in their chest because they are
not able to tolerate so much all the time?
Thank you
