Question ID: 214548
Is it legal to have this site, http://www.easyusgrants.com/ By the way
what
users get is an ebook that has information on government grants when
they are done paying. I
just ran accross the site and is the information bogus that they can
get into legal trouble for running this kind of site or not? Or they
are perfectly safe?

Hello--

A couple points of clarification, if you don't mind.

To ask whether "having this site is legal or illegal" is very broad.
Would an acceptable answer be to help you determine whether the
information they sell is bogus?

Thank you,

darrel-ga

Well, you get an ebook with links and some info on getting government
grants. So after reading the page are they doing fine or misleading
customers? (legal or illegal)

In which state do you live? I know the company may be in a different
state. But they are doing business in your state and must follow your
state's rules, too.

Thank you,

Greetings, dodoboy!

I have to agree with the other Researchers' Comments -- I wouldn't
touch these guys with a 10-foot pole.

Would you be willing to accept as an Answer a way to get the same
information for FREE?

Regards,

aceresearcher

Hi Dodoboy86 ~

You might want to take a look at the warnings about this site:

From Consumer Affairs.com
  - http://www.consumeraffairs.com/scam_alerts/free_money.htm

and more importantly, the big warning on About.Com, pointing out the
fact that their order form is NOT secure (probably because no bona
fide financial institution wants to do business with such an outfit),
and the threat of identity theft
  - http://usgovinfo.about.com/blscamalert.htm

They may be barely within the letter of the law, but that's about all.

Yow.

Steer clear of these guys. They don't look at all as if they're
within the letter of law...I'd say they step over the line by about
the third or fourth sentence of their site.

If you've been taken, best of luck. There is an online form at the
U.S. Federal Trade Commission where you can file a complaint:

https://rn.ftc.gov/pls/dod/wsolcq$.startup?Z_ORG_CODE=PU01

They won't intervene on your behalf, but they may initiate action
against these clowns.

The NJ Attorney General's office has a similar site:

http://www.state.nj.us/lps/ca/ocp/ocpform.htm

You might want to give them a call, as well...they may be willing to
initiate action on your behalf.

Good luck (and if I'm totally wrong, and you actually get a 5 million
dollar grant from Uncle Sam, just ignore everything I've said...).
