Is there a resource on the web that will tell me what percent of a
company's net revenue is spent on advertising? (For instance, IBM
spends 4% of its revenue on advertising. I want to be able to use the
resource you tell me about to find this ratio for any public company,
or at least any Fortune 1000 company...)

Mattells --

Probably the best-available detail is going to be in company financial
statements for public companies on the SEC website:
http://www.sec.gov/edgar/searchedgar/webusers.htm

Of course, companies can classify spending differently (under new
accounting rules co-operative advertising might well be classified as
a reduction in revenues) and not break out advertising from other
sales & marketing expenses.

Or are you seeking a single site with comparable advertising numbers
for a variety of companies, such as Advertising Age might publish?

Best regards,

I am hoping to find a single-source that would list this data. It
would make sense for Advertising Age or AdWeek or similar to publish
something along this line, but I have not located it. I rather assumed
that a "stats" website would exist that would have this "ratio" in a
compendium of other ratios like P/E, EPS, etc.
