How can I alphabetize my internet explorer favorites list?

Since I am not certain that my suggestion will work for all versions
of IE, I am posting this for your consideration:

Left-click on the "Favorites" menu. 

When the list of Favorites appears, right-click on any item in the
list. A menu will appear; select "Sort by Name." This will alphabetize
the list.

This can be done ONLY from the pull-down menu, not from the
"Favorites" window itself.

If this works for you, I'll be glad to post my suggestion as an
answer. If it does not work, please let us know more about your
version of IE.

hey man it works but you have to clarify that you find that menu in
the windows explorer in XP and not in IE itself, anyway thanks for the
hint

As I said, I couldn't be sure that my hint would help without knowing
what version of IE you have. The pull-down favorites menu to which I
was referring is part of my version of IE (I am still using 5.5), and
the tip that I mentioned works in this version.

If you'd tell us which version of Internet Explorer you are using,
perhaps I (or another Researcher) can help you further.

I am glad to have been able to help you alphabetize your Favorites
list. Shall I post my suggestion as the official answer to your
question, or are you looking for additional data?

C:\Documents and Settings\'Your User Name'\Favorites

Go to this directory(substitute 'Your User Name' for your user name)
and right-click in the background on the blank spot, and arrange by
Name, or Type.
