Hello.

Sales tax in Queens, New York, is 8 5/8 % (i.e., 8.625 % ).
source: New York States Sales & Use Tax Rates by Jurisdiction, June
2003

The luxury tax on vehicles was abolished at the end of 2002.

From the IRS web site:

"Excise Taxes
2003 Changes
...
Luxury Tax
The luxury tax on passenger vehicles does not apply after 2002."

Your question didn't mention registration fees and use tax, but as a
car buyer, you will have to pay those. Registration fees depend on
the weight of the vehicle.
Use tax in Queens: "All passenger vehicles: $30 for two years ($15 per
year)."
source: New York State DMV
http://www.nysdmv.com/regfee.htm

search strategy: "new york", dmv
"new york", tax
nystax.com, sales tax
