Question ID: 215357
I would like to know the number of web pages across the internet that
reference the term 'blogger' anywhere within the <head></head> tags.
Or, if this could be presented statistically in some fashion ie, 'Of
100,000 pages indexed X% referenced the term 'blogger' somewhere in
their <head> tags of their web pages'.

The larger the sampling, the better. I just used 100,000 as an example. Thank-you.

Would you be satisfied with an answer for the number of web pages that
have the word "blogger" in the <title></title> tags?

Yes, the number of web pages containing the word 'blogger' in the
<title></title> tags would be satisfactory. Thanks.

Hi there,

Seeing as Google is the largest web index, using Google to perform the
search will give the best possible result.

Google has an advanced search form:

By entering "blogger" in the first search box, and selecting "in the
title of the page" where it says "Occurrences: Return results where my
terms occur", we get the following result:

98,400 occurences of Blogger being in the title of a web page that is
indexed by Google.
://www.google.com/search?as_q=blogger&num=30&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&newwindow=1&btnG=Google+Search&as_epq=&as_oq=&as_eq=&lr=&as_ft=i&as_filetype=&as_qdr=all&as_occt=title&as_dt=i&as_sitesearch=&safe=off

Google states on their homepage that they have a total of
3,083,324,652 web pages indexed. So we can deduce that 0.00319% of web
pages have the word blogger in their title (or 1 in every 31,334).

Your original question asked about terms anywhere between the head
tags. I presume you were thinking of title, keywords and description
tags. To my knowledge there are no search engines which return results
based on keyword and description tags, which is why justaskscott-ga
asked if just titles would be sufficient.

If you need any more information regarding this topic, just ask for a
clarification and I'll get back to you.

Best wishes,

It was the answer I was looking for. I'm a little peeved at myself
for not checking the 'Advanced Search' capabilities on Google prior to
posting my question, but c'est la vie.
