Hi,

On the Internet and elsewhere, there are penpal clubs, personal ad
clubs, personals (ads) clubs, activity partners clubs, etc. for
dating, for marriage, for sports, etc.

Are there any penpal clubs, personal ad clubs, personals (ads) clubs,
activity partners clubs for those seeking someone to go to a rock
concert with, or seeking someone to go to any type of concert with, or
seeking someone to go to some type of music festival with? I'm 52
years old, and I like rock music, space music, and ambient music.

ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

P.S. I know that there is a groups called:
Classical Music Lovers' Exchange

I have already checked them out.

===========

I also know of:
http://www.mtledge.com/
http://www.mtledge.com/members/metalhead/index.shtml

and:

http://www.relix.com/

I'm still checking them out, but they are mostly for much younger
folks.

=======

I have already tried match.com (they have a Keyword Search feature).
Last time I checked, Yahoo! Personals had discontinued their Keyword
Search feature.
I have tried out some friendfinder sites (they have a Keyword Search
feature only for the introduction line of the personal ad).

What city/state are you in? Where is the concert?

Hi lazysteveo,

thanks for an interesting question.

For finding someone who shares your general desire to go to concerts,
I'd continue looking on personals boards.
Including terms like "concerts" and "rock and roll" in your own
personal listing and your searches should help you find who you're
looking for.
The Village Voice personals allow one to execute advanced searches
that include the full text of a user's profile after registering for
membership.
URL: http://personals.villagevoice.com/
Lavalife has partnered with Rolling Stone Magazine to attract the Rock
n' Roll crowd, and registered users can do in-depth profile searches.
URL: http://lavalife.com/124/guest/main.act
If neither of these pan out, Matchmaker is a third option where one
can search profiles.
URL: http://www.matchmaker.com/home&rs=200035

Consider posts to discussion groups for specific bands you like, even
if the concert isn't for that band specifically.
Most band's webpages include some type of message board, and every
band's webpage can easily be found by searching for its name on
Google.
RollingStone.com includes discussion rooms for people interested in
different types of music:
URL: http://www.rollingstone.com/boards/alphalisting.asp?lngTabID=2&lngAlphaID=&lngRootID=5976&tid=5976
Google Groups provides searchable forums by musical genre, including
Rock n' Roll:
URL: http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&group=alt.music.rock-n-roll

Another option is chat rooms devoted to music. Two that look
promising:
Rock Solid Live Music & Chat Room
http://chat.rocksolidchat.com:4080/chat/world/html/login.html
MSN Music Chat
http://chat.msn.com/find.msnw?cat=MU

Lastly, don't rule out the possibility of making friends after going
to a concert by yourself. In my experience, concerts are great places
to meet interesting people. At the very least, you know those you
meet have your same great taste in music!

I hope you find this information useful, and feel free to request
clarification. If you do require clarification, please allow me to
provide it before you rate the answer.

Hoping I was helpful,

Almost forgot to include my search strategy (on Google):
"rock chat"
"personals advanced search"
"music discussion rock"
"concerts chat"

Have a good day,

Hi,

This is not a request. You see, I don't know how to answer your
question:

"What city/state are you in? Where is the concert?"

and I don't know how to thank you, but:

Thank you for helping me out.

An Internet site that finds friends to go to a festival or concert
with, might be nation wide, or divided into regions. I live in middle
Tennessee. I would be interested in concerts within a 200 mile radius
of me.

I might try checking out the festival finder sites, and the concert
finder sites. They may know of a service for finding a friend to go to
a concert or festival with.

Festival finder sites, etc:

Festivals 2002
Our annual list of rock festivals and music fairs for the 2002
spring/summer/fall season.

Lots of pop-up ads in above site.

Thanks again for helping me out, and

Hi lazysteveo,

one more useful site you may not have heard of for finding festivals
is the Jambands.com Festival Guide:

You could try joining bulletin boards, forums, lists related to
groups/artists you particularly like. That way you could find people
with whom you get along well, regardless of age. My daughter created a
whole social scene for herself like through the bulletin boards of two
groups. They constantly whizz round the country attending various
gigs.

There is a new site just for finding friends, pen pals and activity
partners (such as the concert)
It is:
http://www.palnow.com

Good Luck
